Two people have been arrested after a man in his 40s was found dead in Blackburn town centre.
Emergency services were called in the early hours of this morning (Monday 28 September) after the man was found unresponsive on Astley Gate in the town centre.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are treating his death as unexplained and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s have been arrested and are in custody for questioning at this time.
Det Chief Insp Mark Dickinson, from the Force Major Investigation Team (FMIT) said: “Very sadly a man has lost his life and first and foremost my thoughts remain with his loved ones.
“At this early stage we are keeping an open mind regarding the cause of this man’s death. We have a dedicated team of officers and staff assigned to this case who are carrying out enquiries, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have any information or footage which could help."
He continued: “I am aware that hearing about this may cause some concern in the community. We have increased reassurance patrols in the area, and we are doing all we can to piece together exactly what happened.”
