Firefighters tackle major blaze at Blackburn commercial building

Road closures expected to persist throughout the morning

Early this morning, firefighters responded to a significant fire at a commercial building on Darwen Street, Blackburn.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service deployed six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to the scene at 02:35.

The fire has affected the first floor and roof space of the two-storey property, which measures approximately 10 metres by 10 metres.

Response and Evacuation Measures

Firefighters have utilised two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets in their efforts to combat the blaze.

The incident remains ongoing, with crews still in attendance at the site.

Road Closures and Public Safety

As a result of the fire, road closures have been implemented on Mill Lane, St Peter's Street, and Darwen Street at Dandy Walk.

These closures are anticipated to continue into the morning, potentially impacting local traffic and commutes.
