MP Ashley Dalton secures funding for girls’ mental health project in Skelmersdale
Local initiative '#HashtagGirls' focuses on positive mental health
Ashley Dalton MP has secured funding to support a community project aimed at improving the mental wellbeing of local girls in Skelmersdale.
Through Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner MP fund, supported by Dalton, funds have been allocated to About the Town CIC, a non-profit organisation.
Ashley Dalton visited About the Town CIC at their community hub in The Concourse shopping centre, Skelmersdale, to observe the impact of the funding.
The allocated funds will drive the '#HashtagGirls' project starting this September, targeting girls aged 10-14 facing online pressure, emotional vulnerabilities, and digital risks.
These girls will receive support from professionals experienced in counselling, mental health first aid, and teaching.
Funding Opportunities
Organisations in West Lancashire can apply for the next wave of funding through Ashley Dalton’s office.
The combined total available is £50,000 and applications are open till Sunday 2nd August.
Dalton said the funding would empower local initiatives aimed at community safety and wellbeing.
She encourages organisations with relevant projects to apply.
