Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a motorcyclist in his 60s suffered serious injuries in a collision in Great Harwood earlier this week.

Officers were called at around 1.38pm on Monday (10 November) to Blackburn Road, near the junction with West Street, following reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Viva and a Yamaha motorcycle.

It is believed the car was stationary at the time of the incident and that the motorcycle collided with the passenger-side door as it was being opened.

The motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.

Sergeant Anthony Beckett, from Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said:

“This was a collision which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries and my thoughts are with him as he undergoes treatment in hospital.

As we investigate what happened, I’m appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area and has not yet spoken to the police, to please get in touch.”
