Adoption Matters raises £3,000 at the Great North Run
Supporters contribute to funding essential services
On 13th September 2026, a dedicated team of runners raised nearly £3,000 for Adoption Matters at the Great North Run, the world's largest half marathon.
The runners, Tine, Dan, and David, have a personal connection to the charity, with two members being adopters themselves.
These funds will aid the charity in bolstering support services for children and families via their Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support.
Annie O’Neill, Fundraising and Relationship Manager at Adoption Matters, expressed gratitude, saying:
"Everyone at Adoption Matters is incredibly grateful to David, Dan and Tine for taking on this event in support of us – participating in it is no mean feat.
"It is so heart-warming to know that people are willing to give up their time to train, raise donations and compete in this run to help us expand our services for those who need them."
With challenges in funding across the adoption sector, such events are crucial for charities to bridge financial gaps.
Annie further commented:
"It is so important that we continue strive to improve our support services, and events such as the Great North Run allow us to do just that.
“The funds raised will help to provide essential support to families through our Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support – a service that also benefits foster parents from Foster Care Matters, our not-for-profit fostering agency.
“Any donation, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference."
