Adam Lakeland has been appointed as the new first team manager of Morecambe Football Club, starting his tenure with immediate effect.

The club finalised an agreement with FC Halifax Town, meeting Lakeland’s release clause to secure the move and signing him onto a three-year contract.

Lakeland joins Morecambe following a successful stint at Halifax, where he was praised for his leadership skills and strategic acumen.

His ability to develop strong teams and elevate players made him a top choice for Morecambe.

Previously, Lakeland has experience managing teams such as Kings Lynn Town and Curzon Ashton and has successfully led teams to promotions and play-off positions.

Last season, he guided Halifax to an 8th finish in the National League.

H2 - Vision and Ambition

Morecambe’s chairman, Kuljeet Singh, expressed his enthusiasm about Lakeland’s appointment, believing that Lakeland’s ambition and professionalism aligns with the club's long-term vision.

Singh commented, "Adam and his staff will have all the resources available for the first team to be successful again and I am looking forward to our wonderful fans getting behind our new-look management team.”

Lakeland himself is eager to begin work at Morecambe, and has faith in the club’s project and vision.

He said, "The project, vision and ambition of the club matches that of mine, and ultimately the opportunity to manage a club of Morecambe’s size, history and heritage was something I couldn’t turn down."

H2 - Challenges Ahead

Lakeland acknowledges the challenges in the National League North, describing it as a particularly tough division but believes he has the necessary resources to build a strong team.

His goal is to begin rebuilding the club, which has faced difficulties both on and off the pitch in recent seasons.

He remarked, "The hard work starts immediately, and I look forward to the next chapter in my career here at Morecambe."

Further updates regarding backroom staff and pre-season preparations will be shared by the club soon.

In a statement, FC Halifax Town expressed their disappointment at Lakeland's departure.

They thanked him for his contribution in guiding the team to an 8th place finish last season and wished him success in his new role.

A search for Halifax’s new manager is underway.
