A man has been charged with taking a vehicle without consent after a car was stolen from outside an address in Accrington earlier this year.

The incident began on 19th July when the car's owner discovered it missing from their home on Arncliffe Avenue and reported the theft to police.

Four days later, the stolen car was located in Blackburn as inquiries continued.

Ashley Spencer, 20, of Russell Terrace in Padiham, was arrested following a sighting reported to police on 29th October.

Spencer has now been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owners' consent and will appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on 16th November.

The police had been looking to speak with Spencer about the incident, and he was arrested on suspicion of interfering with a motor vehicle and recall to prison.

Spencer has been remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance.
