A man and woman have been charged after officers in Blackburn found 26 dogs crammed into a three bedroom property on Emily Street.

Many of the dogs were kept in crates and were living in substandard conditions.

A dead dog was found in a freezer, and several dogs were immediately seized due to their condition.

The removed dogs were checked over by a vet, who found that they had injuries that were causing them to suffer.

After this news, RSPCA officers returned and removed the remaining dogs.

38-year-old Lee Wright and 27-year-old Paige Carrington have been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Wright's also been charged with breaching a disqualification order and is subject to a ten-year disqualification order from keeping dogs.

That's because he had previous convictions for animal welfare offences.
