A 17-year-old's been charged, after another teenager was stabbed in Blackburn town centre.

At 8:28pm on Saturday, police received a report that a teenager had been assaulted and had suffered a stab injury to the leg.

The injury is not thought to be life threatening or changing, but he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers attended the scene and a 17-year-old boy, from Blackburn, was arrested.

After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, the 17-year-old has now been charged with wounding with intent, possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place, common assault of an emergency worker and possession of a class B drug. As the boy is under 18, he cannot be named.

Although someone has been charged, police are appealing for any information or footage that could assist their enquiries.

There may have been people in the area who witnessed the incident, who they haven’t yet spoken to. If that is you, or if you have any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage from nearby the bus station in the town centre between 8:15pm and 8:45pm on Saturday 2nd August, please get in touch.
