A 14-year-old boy has been left with a fractured skull after being struck by a car in a suspected antisocial driving incident at a car meet in Preston.

The collision is believed to have happened at around 9.50pm on Friday evening (30th January), at the Roman Way Industrial Estate. Emergency services were called to the scene, where the teenage pedestrian was found with a serious head injury.

According to Lancashire Police, the suspected driver of the vehicle is being investigated for serious driving offences in relation to the incident.

Police urge safer behaviour at car meets

In a statement, Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton from the Forces Roads Policing Unit said:

“Car meet events can be fun, social gatherings for those interested in cars, and the vast majority of those attending behave in a completely safe and legal way.

“However, like in most things, there are some who decide to let the side down.

“Whilst I would not want to discourage anyone from attending car meets, please remember to respect the rules of the road and not put others at risk.”

Chief Inspector Jennings-Wharton added that anti-social driving, racing, or causing danger to other road users on public roads will not be tolerated, and the force will seek to prosecute those drivers who behave irresponsibly at these events.
