He was angry at the way they were reportedly handling the crowd

Elton John stopped a recent gig at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester to apologise to a security steward.

The singer had earlier stopped his performance to deliver an expletive-laden rant about the way they were controlling the crowd. The stewards were reportedly attempting to stop fans from putting their hands in the air.

ā€œLighten up you lot, it’s not f** China so p* off!ā€ he said. ā€œYou get a f**** uniform on and you think you’re Hitler… we’re not having it, p*** off!"

Following the explosive outburst, the ā€˜Rocket Man’ singer expressed regret for his reaction by offering a lengthy apology to staff.

He said: ā€œI do apologise. Whoever told the stewards to be restricting, that’s their f* fault and not hers. So I do apologise to her and I would be willing to apologise to her face. So if she comes up now I’ll give her a big hug, come on.

"You’re doing your job. But it’s so frustrating; if people want to wave their hands don’t tell them to stop. It’s a musical event.ā€

Meanwhile, Elton John is expected to appear on the new Chic album alongside Janelle Monae, which is set for release next year.
