Detectives are seeking witnesses and information after a woman was pushed from a moving car in Tunbridge Wells.

The victim was assaulted in the Pembury Road area and suffered serious cuts, burns and grazes to her head, face and body. The incident happened between 9pm and 9.45pm on Saturday (14 June) and involved a small grey van.

The woman and driver were known to each other, and it is reported they were in the vehicle together when the man initially began punching her in the head.

It is alleged the suspect then shoved the victim from the vehicle, near the junction with Sandrock Road and an entrance to Dunorlan Park. The man then drove from the scene and the victim was assisted by a passing motorist before she was taken to hospital.

Detective Constable Tom Bale said: "The victim was pushed from the vehicle at speed and it is only by chance she didn’t suffer more serious or even fatal injuries. The suspect was driving a small grey van which may also have the appearance of a car. It approached Pembury Road from the direction of the High Street and Grove Hill Road and may have been seen moving erratically and at high speeds.

"The suspect currently remains at large and we are urging anyone who may have information and who has not yet spoken to the police to contact us straight away. We are also asking drivers to check for important footage they may have on dash cams, along with residents living on the route the vehicle took to check doorbell or CCTV cameras."

Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/100461/25.
