Where can you get a meningitis vaccine in Kent?

A number of sites have been set up

Sites have been set up across Kent for eligible people to receive vaccines and antibiotics in response to the meningitis outbreak.

There are two sites at the University of Kent, and four others in health centres across the county.

The locations and opening times of each centre are as follows:

Sports Centre, University of Kent, Canterbury – Providing vaccines:

– Saturday, March 21 from 9am to 4.30pm

– Sunday, March 22 from 9am to 4.30pm.

Vicarage Lane Clinic, Ashford – Providing antibiotics and vaccines:

– Saturday, March 21 from 9am to 4.30pm

– Sunday, March 22 from 9am to 4.30pm.

Faversham Health Centre, Bank Street, Faversham – Providing antibiotics and vaccines:

– Saturday, March 21 from 9am to 5pm

Gate Clinic, Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Road – Providing antibiotics and vaccines:

– Saturday, March 21 from 9am to 4.30pm

– Sunday, March 22 from 9am to 4.30pm.

James Williams Healthy Living Centre, Pentagon Centre, Chatham – Providing antibiotics:

– Saturday, March 21 from 8.30am to 5.30pm

– Sunday, March 22 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The NHS has said it is not necessary to book a slot, but asked that people bring their NHS number and a bottle of water if possible.

It is not possible to pick up the medication on behalf of others.

The eligibility list from the UK Health Security Agency includes the following people:

– Anyone who attended the Club Chemistry venue from March 5-15.

– Year 12 and 13 pupils at four schools, those students will be notified.

– University of Kent students living on the Canterbury campus.

– University staff.

– Close contacts of confirmed or suspected cases.
