Two-year-old lioness Amali passes away at Port Lympne Reserve
She's been described as 'feisty' - and has died following emergency surgery for a severe internal obstruction
It has been announced that Amali, a 2-year-old lioness at Port Lympne Reserve, has died - following emergency surgery for a severe intestinal obstruction.
Amali - described as 'feisty' by the Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve - passed away on 20th May after developing the condition, which caused her health to decline rapidly.
Despite intensive post-operative care from the veterinary team at the reserve, the lioness's condition continued to worsen.
A tough decision was made to euthanise Amali in order to prevent any further suffering.
Amali was born at the Port Lympne Reserve and was known for her confident and bold personality.
She lived alongside her sister, Jamila, and was a beloved figure among the pride.
Her absence will be felt deeply by the keepers, veterinary staff, and her animal family.
The team at Port Lympne Reserve expressed their condolences to those who cared for Amali and worked tirelessly to support her during her illness.
