Kent Police have arrested two men as part of an ongoing investigation into a serious assault in Herne Bay.

Shortly before 7pm yesterday (Monday 25 August), officers responded to reports of a man being assaulted following an altercation with another individual in Hampton Pier Avenue.

The alleged offender reportedly left the scene in a car.

Emergency services, including paramedics, attended and found the victim — a man in his 40s — with head injuries. He was airlifted to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

An 18-year-old man from Whitstable and a 48-year-old man from Herne Bay have been arrested.

Both currently remain in custody while enquiries continue.

Police have confirmed, "All parties are understood to be known to each other."

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the assault to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to review any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may have captured the incident or the offender leaving the scene.
