In a dramatic police pursuit through Tonbridge, an offender who leapt from a second-floor window was swiftly apprehended by officers.

On the morning of 8th January 2026, officers from the Community Safety Unit sought to arrest Bobby Thorpe for a series of offences.

Thorpe refused to allow officers entry into the property, and while they attempted to force an entry, a loud crash was heard outside.

Officers discovered that Thorpe had attempted to flee by jumping from a second-floor window, evident by broken tiles on a nearby garage.

PC Ben Cooper, undeterred, chased after Thorpe, aided by local residents who pointed out the direction Thorpe had taken.

Thorpe was spotted on the main road trying to enter a garden, where PC Cooper quickly identified him hiding.

Thorpe was arrested only 80 seconds after his leap from the window.

Chief Inspector Mark Stubberfield commended the dedication of the officers, remarking on their readiness to tackle crime and keep the community safe.

Thorpe, a resident of Royal West Kent Avenue in Tonbridge, was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison for offences including theft, handling stolen goods, and fraud.
