A suspect has appeared in court charged with multiple assaults in Gravesend.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday (17 December), a woman visited a friend at some flats in Overcliffe to check on her welfare, as there appeared to be a disturbance.

When the door was opened it is reported she was struck on the head and face.

The victim left the scene and the police were immediately contacted.

Patrols attended a short time later and a man was detained.

Following the arrest it is alleged several constables were assaulted and a police vehicle was spat in.

Connor Black, of Knightrider Street, Maidstone, was later charged with assault by beating, criminal damage and five counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

The 26-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday (18 December).

He was remanded to a hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Christmas Eve.
