A charge of attempted murder has been brought against a man following a serious assault in Sheerness.

Kent Police say they were called to the incident at a private property on the High Street, at 6.43pm on Wednesday 11 February 2026.

Officers attended the scene where a man in his 60s was found with head injuries.

He was taken to a London hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Investigators arrested a man later that evening and he was taken into custody.

Aidan Kirby, of Pentrich Avenue, Enfield, London, was charged with attempted murder on the following day.

The 31-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 13 March.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information or CCTV to come forward.
