Investigation launched after death of skydiver near Headcorn Aerodrome
The body of a man in his 50s was found on Monday
A skydiver has died following an incident at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.
Kent Police received reports at 10.05am on Monday 6th April regarding the discovery of a parachutist's body near the aerodrome on Shenley Road.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the death of a man in his 50s at the scene.
His next of kin has been told.
The death is currently treated as unexplained, and an investigation into the circumstances is underway in collaboration with British Skydiving.
A British Skydiving Board of Inquiry has been convened to assess the situation.
They will compile a full report detailing their conclusions and recommendations.
This report will be submitted to the Coroner, the Police, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the British Skydiving Safety & Training Committee (STC), and other relevant authorities.
British Skydiving expressed their condolences to the family, friends, and all affected parties during this difficult time.
