The Roads minister has told us that installing electric vehicle charging points at schools will create more money for young people's education.

Lilian Greenwood was visiting Northfleet School for Girls ahead of the government announcing there is now over 1,400 electric vehicle charging sockets in schools - a record number.

At the school, they have four charging points and the minister said: "They are using them to generate a bit of income which they are investing in the young people's education.

"As we heard from the girls, they are really inspired and they are getting interested in trying to persuade their mum's and dad's to get an electric vehicle but this is a transition that everyone needs to make.

"And, people being able to charge at their workplaces, like they can hear at this school, is a really important part of that. It makes people realise that they can fit charging into heir daily life.
