Thanet District Council has been awarded up to £20million of government funding for Ramsgate.

It is through the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme that will support investment in Ramsgate over a ten year period, from 2026 to 2036.

Ramsgate is one of 75 towns included in the government’s programme as part of the Pride in Place strategy, delivered by the Ministry for Housing.

The funding will be used to help deal with some of the issues that matter most to local people.

Local people are now invited to take part in a series of workshops and drop-in sessions, hosted in partnership with a number of local organisations, to decide what the funding will be used for.

A variety of in-person and online sessions are planned at locations throughout Ramsgate from Monday 13 October to Sunday 26 October.

They are open to people of all ages and from all sections of Ramsgate’s community.

A Neighbourhood Board has been set up to develop a ten-year vision and regeneration plan for Ramsgate.

The Ramsgate ten-year vision and plan must be submitted to government for consideration by the end of November 2025.

Bob Porter, Director of Place at Thanet District Council, said: “First of all, I’d like to thank everyone that filled out the surveys earlier this year. The feedback has given us a broad overview of the things that matter most to people living and working in Ramsgate.

“This next round of workshops and drop-ins will help us explore the key themes raised in the survey results more deeply. The findings will provide important insights for the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board, which is developing a 10-year vision and plan for the future of Ramsgate.

“I would encourage anyone that’s interested in helping shape the future of Ramsgate to go along to one of the sessions. Your views really do matter.”

Brian Horton, Interim Chair Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board said: ‘’We are looking forward to hearing more from the people of Ramsgate. Feedback so far has been very informative, thank you to everyone that took the time to complete the earlier surveys.

“These feedback sessions will help the Board delve deeper into the views of the Ramsgate communities to develop a vision and plan for the £20m investment. One that reflects what local people think is needed to make Ramsgate the best place for their future.”

The feedback sessions are the next step towards developing the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme.
