There were over 52,000 incidents of domestic abuse recorded by the police last year.
The statistics - released yesterday- revealed there were 28 incidents and crimes for every 1,000 people in the population.
However, there was nearly an eighty percent of domestic abuse related prosecutions resulted in a conviction.
Sarah, who's real name we can't reveal, is a survivor of domestic violence and she told us there can be a life after abuse.
She said: "When you have been controlled so much, you learn behaviours. Something so simple as opening a bin bag, if you open it wrong, you can then get in trouble for it but when you get out of it, and your opening a bin bag, you are waiting for a reaction.
"It's quite crippling to be honest because they get so far in your head, such as them saying no one will ever love you like I did or no one will ever look at you like I did.
"However, to know after, that you can be treated right again, you can be loved again, it's a great feeling.
"And, that makes you feel like you aren't going mad, because in them moments you kind of become a shell of yourself, it gives you some justice in the fact of you wasn't going mad, you are okay, and what you are doing isn't a problem. They were the problem, you are not the problem.
Under Clare's Law, 916 people in the county were told their partner has a history of violence in the last year, according to police figures.
