A new £10M state-of-the-art health hub is set to open later this year in Broadstairs.

The well-being centre at Westwood Cross will bring together a wide range of NHS services including a brand new diagnostic centre.

The hub at the Carey Building in Northwood Road will also become the home for St Peters GP Practice.

This innovative hub is all about helping people stay well for longer, with a strong focus on prevention and proactive care.

And now, the community is being invited to play a part in its story by suggesting a name.

The naming online survey is quick and simple with just two questions: what is your idea and why? Suggestions could be based on the local history, landmarks or people who’ve made a difference. Ideas need to be in quick, as the survey closes on Tuesday, 1 July.

Work has started on the site

From the very beginning, Thanet people – including NHS staff, partners and the voluntary groups – have been central to shaping the vision for this £10million hub, at the Carey building, in Northwood Road.

Last week, some of the team responsible for bringing the hub to life, had a sneak preview of how its developing and met some of the local people working on the hub.

Plumber Alan Warner said: “It’s what we need with all these new homes round here. If it brings quicker services to the area then, roll on.”

Karen Sharp, Director of the East Kent Health and Care Partnership said: “There’s lots of activity on the site, everyone is working hard to turn this building into a brilliant facility to provide health and care services for the residents of Thanet. It’s so exciting to see it coming to life.”

Led by the East Kent Health and Care Partnership (EKHCP), this ambitious project brings together a wide range of organisations across east Kent, to deliver better, more joined-up care for the people of the east Kent.
