Motorcycle rider killed in Whitstable collision

Detectives are investigating after a fatal collision in Whitstable.

It happened on Chestfield Road in front of the Chestfield Barn pub, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday (24 July).

An 18-year-old man riding a motorcycle died at the scene following a collision with a white Mercedes A180.

It was reported that a man who had been travelling in the car then rode the bike away from the area.

An 18-year-old man attended Canterbury police station voluntarily later on Friday evening (24 July) and was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody.

The motorcycle has not yet been recovered.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of either vehicle before or after the collision to come forward."
