Man dies after crash on M20 near Maidstone

The collision happened on Wednesday night and involved a car and a van

A man's now died following a collision on the M20 near Maidstone.

At around 11.30pm on Wednesday (12 November), a grey Volkswagen Polo was reportedly travelling against the flow of traffic on the coastbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9.

Shortly afterwards a collision took place involving the car and a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. Emergency services attended the scene.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to a London hospital where he died on Thursday 13 November. His next of kin have been informed.

The other motorist was treated at hospital for minor injuries and has since been discharged.

An investigation by Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is underway.
