Man arrested in connection with rape of teenage girl in Tunbridge Wells
Police say it happened on Tunbridge Wells Common on Saturday evening
A man has been arrested in connection with a rape investigation in Tunbridge Wells.
It is reported that between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday (18 October), a teenage girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on Tunbridge Wells Common.
The man is believed to have initially approached the victim and engaged her in conversation, as she was walking from the direction of Victoria Road and towards the Millennium Clock.
She was reportedly later assaulted next to a rock formation on the common, at a location close to Mount Ephraim and the junction for Molyneux Park Road.
Officers have been making extensive enquiries in the local area and at around 3.30pm on Monday, a man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of rape.
He has been taken into custody.
Police continue to urge anyone with information which may assist the investigation to come forward.
