Maidstone man sentenced to seven years for violent robbery and assault

Jordan MacDonald, a 28-year-old from Regency Place, Maidstone, has been sentenced to seven years in prison following a violent robbery and subsequent assaults.
The incident occurred on the night of 4th August 2024, when MacDonald followed a woman through Maidstone town centre before attacking her between Knightrider Street and the Millennium Bridge.
The victim was thrown to the ground by MacDonald as he attempted to steal her handbag, resulting in concussion and requiring hospital treatment for cuts, grazes, and a deep head wound.
MacDonald fled the scene after stealing the possessions, but swift police enquiries led to his arrest the next morning.
Despite pleading not guilty, MacDonald was convicted of robbery by unanimous verdict at Maidstone Crown Court.
Following the verdict, he further assaulted two prison custody officers in the courtroom, leading to additional charges for attacking emergency workers.
MacDonald had previously been charged with actual bodily harm after an incident on 10th May 2024, where he punched another woman repeatedly in the face.
Detective Constable Josh Littley, who led the investigation, remarked on the severity of the robbery and emphasised the commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
