James Wall has been sentenced to two years in prison after stealing luxury watches, a diamond ring, and foreign currency during a burglary in Tunbridge Wells.

The burglary occurred at around 5.45pm on 13th December 2025, in Southborough. Wall verbally abused a witness who challenged him, before leaving in a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

Arrest and vehicle pursuit

Within an hour, Kent Police patrols spotted the vehicle on the M25, anticlockwise between Junctions 3 and 2. It was driven dangerously at speeds nearing 100mph along the hard shoulder.

The car was stopped near a slip road on the A2 near Wilmington, where another suspect—a 38-year-old man—was arrested in connection with driving offences. He remains released pending further investigation.

A dog handler deployed to locate Wall spotted him in a neon-colored T-shirt inside a chip shop in Bexley. Wall was subsequently arrested while having fish and chips and waiting for his phone to be charged.

Sentencing and evidence

Digital forensic analysis of Wall's device placed him at the scene of the burglary. Officers also found jewellery boxes, false vehicle registration plates, and a jewellery cleaning cloth in the abandoned vehicle.

Wall pleaded guilty to burglary at Maidstone Crown Court on 12th January 2026 and was sentenced on 25th March.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Celia King remarked on Wall's refusal to initially accept liability despite clear evidence: "The judge took into consideration the high levels of planning involved in the burglary... Wall was handed an immediate custodial sentence."

Wall's conviction underscores the judicial system's commitment to addressing calculated criminal activity and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
