Rail users in Kent urged to check before they travel amid bank holiday disruptions
Trains between London Victoria and Dartford are not running
Rail users in Kent are being urged to check before they travel this bank holiday weekend.
Network Rail have said the "vast majority" of trains across Kent and Sussex is open for business, but passengers are asked to plan ahead and check before they travel as some journeys may be affected by essential upgrade work.
Trains between London Victoria and Dartford are not running on 24 or 25th August.
Services between London Victoria and Gravesend won't run on the 25 August.
Work will continue on the Redhill to Tonbridge line over the long weekend, ahead of its reopening on Tuesday 26 August following a ten-day closure, with buses continuing to replace trains along the whole route.
Network Rail is currently working to replace 13 miles of high voltage power cables between Nutfield and Leigh, protecting the track from landslips which have caused significant disruption in Edenbridge.
Worn-out rails are being replaced in Edenbridge and the railway embankment strengthened with a 360-metre-long steel wall either side of the track.
Elsewhere along the line, 11 bridges will undergo detailed structural inspections and 200 metres of rail will be replaced at Godstone.
David Davidson, chief operating officer for the South Eastern Railway, said: "The vast majority of the rail network in Kent and Sussex remains open for business over the August bank holiday."
"But with vital upgrade work necessary at a few locations on the network, our message to customers in south east London and parts of west Kent and East Sussex is to please check before you travel as your journey may take longer.”
