Kent firefighters tackle wildfires on Isle of Grain and in Paddock Wood
These follow a number of blazes across the region
Teams from Kent Fire and Rescue Service have been addressing significant wildfires in two locations: Isle of Grain and Paddock Wood.
Efforts on the Isle of Grain continue to show progress after a wildfire broke out near West Lane.
Originally, ten fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a utility terrain vehicle were deployed, accompanied by the KFRS Volunteer Response Team.
By this morning (8th August), the fire was largely extinguished, and two fire engines remain to manage remaining hotspots.
During the height of the fire, locals were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke, with updates indicating conditions improved by 9:30pm on 7th August.
Meanwhile, in Paddock Wood, a fire ignited on Wagon Lane, spreading from a field to a nearby motorhome site.
Seven fire engines and a bulk water carrier responded, utilising hose reel jets to tackle the flames.
This incident resulted in damage to two static homes, one caravan, and multiple sheds though, thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The fire in Paddock Wood was believed to have started accidentally from a bonfire extending to nearby grass.
As crews continue their operations, authorities urge sharing information with those who may not have social media.
