Inquest hears death of child outside Margate hospital was accidental

Today the court heard that the death of four-year-old Zaahir Jan Feizi was accidental.
The tragedy happened on the afternoon of August 7th 2025, as Zaahir left Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mary Hospital and was hit by a Stagecoach bus, which due to the height of the windows couldn't see the child crossing the road.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as sudden, with two boys seen running out of the building, before the younger was caught on the crossing.
The bus driver involved, whose identity has been anonymised due to concerns of harassment, told the court in a statement that they had been driving for ten years, knew the route and that the crossing in general can be busy, with "multiple pedestrians to be wary of along with cars pulling out of the car park" and people in the drop off bays likely to "open their car doors without looking".
Coroner Miss Sarah Clarke summarised that the evidence showed no way for the driver to avoid the collision, and also acknowledged the loss felt by Zaahir Jan Feizi's family, adding that no outcome would adequately account for their loss.
The court also heard that since the incident, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mary Hospital has implemented new road signage in an attempt to make the area safer, with additional plans to install railings.
