Herne Bay man jailed after violent birthday assault on friend
Afternoon celebration turns into serious altercation
A Herne Bay resident has received a prison sentence after violently attacking a friend during birthday celebrations.
On 8th November 2025, Oliver Hamilton-Harris had been drinking with a friend ahead of his birthday, visiting several pubs across town.
The evening took a dangerous turn when they returned to a property on Herne Bay High Street around 6pm.
An argument escalated into a physical altercation in the front garden.
Hamilton-Harris armed himself inside the house before confronting the victim.
Assault Details
The victim recounted to officers that Hamilton-Harris struck him multiple times with a clenched fist, appearing to hold something in his hand.
He suffered impacts on his right side, back, and chest.
Disoriented, the victim managed to reach a nearby residential address.
Emergency services responded, leading to him being hospitalised with two stab wounds, and later discharged.
Legal Actions
The investigation included thorough reviews of CCTV footage.
Oliver Hamilton-Harris, who celebrated his 45th birthday the following day, was arrested and charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 10th November 2025, where he admitted to the attack and was remanded in custody pending sentencing.
