Two women arrested in connection with an assault in Margate

The women have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with an assault in Margate.

Police were called to the incident in Northdown Road, shortly after 3am on Saturday.

A man in his 40s was treated at the scene by the ambulance service for an injury that police say was consistent with that of a stab wound. He was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

A 20 year old man from Thanet was arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently bailed.

Two women, aged 25 and 27, were also arrested later on Saturday and have been bailed while enquiries continue.

A police investigation is now underway. Officers are examining CCTV footage in the area and undertaking a forensic examination of the incident scene.
