A man has been jailed after police found a cannabis factory in his house in Broadstairs.

On Sunday 6 March 2022, officers searched a property on Ramsgate Road after receiving information linking the property to drug supply, finding 33 cannabis plants in total.

47-year-old Giedrius Sadeckas was arrested at the scene and later charged with being concerned in the production of a controlled drug. He pleaded guilty to the charge, prior to sentencing.

Sadeckas was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday 31 July.

The total street value of the plants are estimated to be around £25,000.

Detective Constable Alice McCarthy, of Kent Police, said: "The cultivation of cannabis on this scale is not a victimless crime, it is often linked to exploitation, antisocial behaviour, and organised networks."

"We will continue to take proactive steps to dismantle these kinds of operations and bring those responsible to justice."
