Man arrested after roof repair scam in Swanley
A pensioner's home was left in disrepair.
Police have arrested a suspected rogue trader in Swanley, who's accused of targeting a vulnerable pensioner with a roof repair scam.
Officers were told of fraudulent behaviour happening at a property close to Warren Road between 17th and 18th of October. Two men had offered to repair leaky guttering at the address. They allegedly demanded the owner pay in cash up-front for materials, while inflating the cost of repairs and then failed to complete the job.
Thousands of pounds in cash were reportedly stolen and the victim's home was left in disrepair.
Police arrested a 44 year old man from Edenbridge on Wednesday on suspicion of fraud by false representation in relation to the incident, as well as incidents in Southwark and Croydon in London, East Grinstead in West Sussex, and Edenbridge.
He has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
