The family of a Canterbury man who died during the Easter weekend following a serious assault in Whitstable have paid tribute to him.

19-year-old Ashton Harrington was found on Good Friday with injuries consistent with stab wounds in Belmont Road. He died at the scene.

Two people have since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

His mother, Camille Harrington, has issued a tribute to her son, describing him as a doting father, and able to light up a room with his smile and laugh.

In a statement she said:

“My son didn't deserve to be taken so cruelly. He had his whole life ahead of him. He was the most loyal, loving, funny boy with the biggest personality and he could light up a room with his smile and laugh. He was loved by all that knew him. He was most happy when he was with his friends and daughter who he absolutely doted on. He was a mummy's boy and idolised his brothers and stepdad.

“We won't stop until we get justice for you Ashton, we love you so so much and life will never be the same without you.

“I'm so glad he spent his last day with his daughter and myself, and I will cherish this forever. I hope wherever you are you are happy. This isn't goodbye, this is see you later, love you Ash.”
