A woman in her 80s has been seriously injured after being hit by a bus in Hythe.

Kent Police were called to Prospect Road shortly before 3pm yesterday afternoon (1 October).

It's reported that a bus, travelling east between Sun Lane and Douglas Avenue, was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said:

"Officers attended along with Southeast Coast Ambulance Service and the pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was airlifted to a London hospital where she remains in a serious condition. Her next of kin has been informed."

Detectives from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out enquiries. Anyone with relevant information, including CCTV and dashcam, is urged to come forward.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to any passengers on the bus that may have left before police arrived at the scene.
