Critical incident stood down at William Harvey Hospital
Hospital bosses warn the Emergency Department remains very busy
The internal critical incident at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford has been stood down today, following significant efforts from hospital staff and local community cooperation.
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust announced the decision, crediting the hard work of staff and public support in making it possible.
Situation at the hospital
The hospital remains busy, despite the standing down of the critical incident.
There is continued pressure on the emergency department, with many acutely unwell patients being cared for and numerous individuals waiting for admission to a ward.
The trust emphasised the ongoing challenge in managing the high demand for emergency services.
A spokesperson for the hospital said:
"Our message to the public remains the same – please use NHS services wisely and do not come to hospital unless your condition is life-threatening. If you attend with a less serious illness or injury you will face a long wait."
