As votes come in from across the country, Tunbridge Wells is the only part of Kent to participate in this year's local elections.

Polling booths closed last night at 10 pm, though some voted five days earlier with the help of a new early pilot scheme. Results for the Tunbridge Wells Council elections won't be available until 4pm.

In the previous local election, the Liberal Democrats took control from the Conservatives, but the result for today is yet to be decided.

LDRS reporter Meghan Shaw was there earlier this week to ask people who they would be voting for.

One potential Lib Dem voter said:

"There are always things that could be improved, but yeah. They are the best council for me. I'm either going to vote for Lib Dem as tactical vote to keep other parties out, or I might vote Green, which is like more morally well like I align with."

While others expressed enthusiasm for the independent parties:

"I'm undecided voter and but I do support the local independents. They have the independent view. "

Another said they would be voting for the Green party for the first time, while one man said:

"I'm so fed up. People that are in power that shouldn't be in power because they're not worth anything in my book.

"And there's too many rules and regulations and I think for small businesses it's just too much."

Results are due to be announced at 4pm this Friday.
