Charity Bank, based in Tonbridge, Kent, has been awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, one of the UK's highest business honours.

The award recognises Charity Bank's exceptional accomplishments in sustainability, using financial services to drive social and environmental benefits.

Founded in 2001, Charity Bank uses its savers' money to provide loans to UK charities and organisations focusing on positive social change.

Speaking to us, Carolyn Sims, director of Impact Lending at the Charity Bank said:

"We are really, really proud and really pleased that we've received this award.

"For us, it really recognises many, many years of work that we've been doing, supporting charities, social enterprises and profit with purpose organisations across the UK.

"So, you know, we feel it's really great recognition and it's for the whole team.

"It's for every member of staff that are behind the bank, each and every member of staff contributes in some way to us receiving this award."

She added that while Charity Bank work across the UK, they were also proud of their local partnerships with Kent-based charities such as The Martha Trust, Hospices for Hope, Headcorn Village Hall, Maidstone Hockey Club and the Kent Wildlife Trust.

Speaking on the benefits of being awarded, Carolyn added:

"We're widely known amongst people that work in the social sector, but in the wider space we're not really known. So hopefully the King's Award is going to help us do even more."

Now in its 60th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise are esteemed business accolades in the UK. Winners have the privilege of displaying the King’s Awards Emblem for five years, symbolising excellence on a global stage.
