Burst water main repaired after Kent residents cut off again
Thousand of homes in Tonbridge were without water over the weekend
South East Water said it has fixed a burst water main that left thousands of households without supply again over the weekend.
Bottled water stations were set up in Tonbridge after the pipe burst in Shipbourne Road on Saturday morning, the latest in a number of high profile incidents in Kent.
In a statement posted in its website on Monday morning, the company said: "We are pleased to report that the repair is now complete and we are slowly restoring water to the area.
"This has to be done in a controlled way to prevent any further issues.
"Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before all customer supplies are fully restored. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
The new chief executive of South East Water, John Halsall, was seen helping out at a bottled water bank over the weekend.
He was praised by local Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat in a post on social media.
