Boy arrested after Canterbury fire

The 15 year-old has been detained on suspicion of arson

An arrest has been made, after a fire in Canterbury on Monday 2 December 2024.

Kent Police patrols attended the city centre at around 8.45pm that evening, after a fire was reported at a property on Guildhall Street.

Officers closed nearby roads and some residents were evacuated from adjacent properties, while Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackled the blaze.

Yesterday (Tuesday 3 December), a 15 year old boy from the local area attended Canterbury police station and was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of arson.

Police and fire crews have been continuing to work to make the area safe.

Detectives are appealing for information regarding the incident, and would like to thank those who have already come forward and spoken to officers.
