The Bishop of Dover has joined calls for two children's centres to be saved.

Seashells in Sheerness and Milmeads in Margate are set to find out today if they will have their funding decommissioned by Kent County Council as the local authority looks to make savings of over £400,000

And in a letter - the Right Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin urged KCC to not cease it's funding, she said: "Seashells Family Hub is more than just a service provider; it is a lifeline for vulnerable families, offering early intervention, parental support, and crucial child development resources.

"I urge you to consider the far-reaching consequences of this decision, which will eventually lead to increased strain on social services, schools, and healthcare providers in the long-term.

"The loss of such an essential service would disproportionately affect those who are already struggling, deepening inequality and limiting opportunities for present and future generations for those who live on Sheppey."
