Benjamin Dack, 28, from the Scarborough area, has been sentenced to four years in prison by York Crown Court for his involvement in a large-scale cannabis supply operation.
Dack pleaded guilty at a hearing earlier this month to possession with intent to supply cannabis, being concerned in its supply over several years, and possession of criminal property.
An investigation into Dack's activities began in 2023 after police reports of suspected drug dealing. Despite being arrested multiple times, he audaciously continued to distribute drugs.
Financial investigations revealed Dack's use of cash, money, and cryptocurrency to facilitate drug transactions. Authorities confiscated luxury items, including Rolex watches, from Dack, further proving his attempts to conceal criminal income.
Detective Constable Alfie Thomlinson highlighted Dack's continued silence during police interviews, stating the evidence clearly showed his extensive involvement in cannabis distribution.
Financial Investigator Amy Monkman played a crucial role in uncovering the depth of Dack's criminal enterprise, utilising cryptocurrency transactions as evidence. She emphasised the rising use of cryptocurrency to conceal criminal assets.
The police seized Bitcoin worth £4,104 and cash amounting to £7,580 from Dack. These assets are preserved pending a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing next March to determine the extent of his financial gains from criminal activities.
