Harrogate Hospital invites community to open days
It is part of the hospitals 200th anniversary celebrations
Harrogate District Hospital will host open days on 8th May and 20th May, inviting local residents to explore its facilities and celebrate the hospital's 200th anniversary. From 10am to 4pm, visitors can go behind the scenes and discover the diverse range of services offered for patients across Harrogate and the surrounding district.
Nearly 30 departments will come together for the open days, providing insight into hospital operations and the vital work conducted in areas like Paediatrics, Pathology, Podiatry, Pharmacy, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Community Nursing, Cardiology, and others. The hospital’s Digital Team will highlight advancements in digital innovation and its impact on healthcare.
Dr Jacqueline Andrews, Executive Medical Director at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, emphasised the significance of the event: “Our open days are a wonderful opportunity for people to see first-hand the passion, expertise and teamwork that goes into caring for our community every day. Whether you’re curious about how your hospital works, interested in a career in healthcare, or simply want to meet the people behind the scenes, we would love to welcome you.”
Guests will experience interactive demonstrations, practical health and wellbeing activities, and displays. The event also offers opportunities for those considering careers in healthcare or volunteering, with detailed information on available roles at the hospital.
Open days will take place in the Herriots Lounge, first floor, Harrogate District Hospital, Lancaster Park Road, HG2 7SX. Throughout the event, the Trust will raise funds for its first Clinical Research Facility, which opened earlier this year, ensuring innovation in healthcare continues for future generations.
