April marks the 200th anniversary of Harrogate’s first hospital, the Harrogate Bath Hospital, and a series of events are planned to celebrate this milestone and explore healthcare's evolution over the past two centuries.

The anniversary will be highlighted by a free exhibition showcasing healthcare through the ages at the West Park Centre from 6th April to 16th May 2026. Complementary satellite exhibitions will be hosted at the Royal Pump Room Museum and Harrogate Library.

The celebration includes school competitions, medical-themed guided walks, and a series of public talks on healthcare.

Additionally, Harrogate District Hospital will hold two Open Days on Friday 8th May and Wednesday 20th May (from 10am to 4pm). Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the wide range of services offered, from Paediatrics and Pathology to Podiatry, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Community Nursing.

These events provide an opportunity to see how healthcare services have developed and are being enhanced for the community.
