Police find stolen car carrying 150 litres of fuel after short pursuit

Two men are in police custody following a suspected stolen car incident in North East Lincolnshire on 9th November.

The vehicle was reportedly seen driving erratically on Welholme Road at around 7.50pm heading towards Healing and Immingham, prompting a call to police.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit quickly located the car on Warsley Road. When signalled to stop, the driver reportedly refused, leading to a short pursuit.

Arrests made

The chase ended after the driver is believed to have collided with a bin and a lamp post on a footpath. No injuries to the public have been reported, but the vehicle sustained damage.

Two men allegedly attempted to flee on foot but were detained by police shortly afterward.

Inside the vehicle, police reportedly found 150 litres of diesel and a syphon.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped for theft, and theft.

A 26-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped for theft.

Both individuals remain in custody and are helping police with their enquiries.

Police appeal for witnesses

Enquiries are ongoing to identify everyone involved in the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from around 7.50pm on 9th November to come forward.

The police have asked anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 429 of 9 November.
