Grimsby and Immingham's tip is getting into the Valentine's Day spirit with the installation of romantic decorations and a love shack.

The recycling centre is known for celebrating various occasions with decorations, whether that's for Christmas, Easter or anything in between.

For Valentine’s Day, the centre has installed decorations such as red hearts, a Cupid’s bow and arrow, and a Love Shack set against a Paris backdrop, complete with an 'attentive chef' (statue) and a table for two.

Site attendant Will, who created this year’s display, says: “It all started during lockdown when we created the Minions that people still talk about today and it’s grown from there.

“We have various themes throughout the year, and the hardest part is making sure we have new ideas every year for each theme.”

Councillor Henry Hudson, portfolio holder for Environment and Net Zero, added: “The award-winning staff at Grimsby and Immingham tips do a brilliant job and always raise a smile when there’s something to celebrate.

“Anyone who has visited Grimsby and Immingham tip will see the lengths they go to to make the site a fun place to recycle things you don’t need.

“There are also plenty of bargains on offer with their bike and bric-a-brac sales, with all the proceeds going to good causes.”

Grimsby Community Recycling Centre is located on Estuary Way, Pyewipe Industrial Estate, Grimsby.

It shares its hours with Immingham Community Recycling Centre on Queens Road, open from 8am-6pm daily.
