A man who was involved in an organised crime group operating in North East Lincolnshire has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to drugs offences.

Richard Cameron, 46-years-old, of Cromwell Avenue in Grimsby, appeared at Hull Crown Court today where he was sentenced to three years and two months behind bars including suspended sentence being activated for seven months to run consecutively.

On Tuesday, 25 March, officers conducted a stop and search after he was suspected to be involved in drug dealing. Upon searching him, officers recovered a quantity of class A drugs, a burner phone and a sum of cash, leading to his arrest.

Following this, officers searched Cameron’s home address under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. Inside, they discovered a further two mobile phones believed to be connected to the distribution of drugs.

On Thursday, 3 April, Cameron was spotted exchanging an item with an unknown woman. He was stopped and searched and found to be carrying a burner phone and a vape with a hidden compartment containing a quantity of white wraps. He was subsequently arrested.

Specialist testing confirmed that the individually wrapped substances found inside the vape were cocaine.

Cameron was later charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A cocaine and possession with intent to supply class A diamorphine. He was remanded into custody ahead of sentencing.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said: “This case highlights the proactive work our teams are doing every day to disrupt drug-related crime and protect our communities.

Cameron was actively involved in the supply of harmful substances, and thanks to swift action and thorough investigation, he is now behind bars.

“Our officers are out there conducting stop checks, gathering intelligence, and working with partners to make our streets safer and contribute to putting offenders behind bars.

“Investigating and tackling serious and organised crime remains a priority for us and I’m reassured that Cameron is now off our streets and is being punished for his crimes.

“I hope the sentence given today sends a clear message to anyone else involved in the supply of drugs that we will come for you, and we will do everything in our power to bring you before the courts.”
