Teenagers to stand trial accused of killing man in Glasgow street attack
Ethan O'Kane and Matteullah Siddiq - who are both now aged 19 - are accused of assaulting John McLardie, 68, on Victoria Road inn April 2023
Two teenagers are to go on trial charged with attacking and killing a pensioner in a Glasgow street.
Ethan O'Kane and Matteullah Siddiq - who are both now aged 19 - are accused of assaulting John McLardie, 68, on Victoria Road on April 28 2023.
It is claimed the pair pushed and hit Mr McLardie on the body and head, causing him to fall to the ground.
The indictment states Mr McLardie hit his head on the pavement and that he sustained "blunt force trauma" from which he died.
The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow where lawyers for the duo pleaded not guilty on their behalf to the culpable homicide charge.
Lord Arthurson set a trial due to begin in December 2025.
O'Kane, of Glasgow's Summerston, and Siddiqi, of the city's Calton, remain on bail meantime.
